The first Restless Soles walk of 2019 takes us through the neighbourhoods of Bedford Park and Hogg's Hollow, as well as skirting the edges of Teddington Park and St. Andrew.
We will be meeting at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 16, BEHIND the George Locke Library, which is on the southeast corner of Yonge and Lawrence (Lawrence Subway Station).
Walk Notes: Heading north from Yonge and Lawrence, we'll stop briefly to learn about the community's original hub (Atkinson's store), the rolling church, the dreaded local toll booth, the original route of Yonge Street, and local characters William McDougall and Seneca Ketchum. Please note that this walk (about 4 km) has its downs and ups -- into the West Don River valley to Hogg's Hollow, up the other side, then down again to the York Mills Subway Station (all on paved roads).
Apres-walk: Swiss Chalet near Yonge & York Mills; join us for coffee or lunch.
For more information: Contact the event organizer Gary Schlee (through the Member Directory). If you register and can't make it, please de-register and free up a space on the walk for another Probus member. Much appreciated.
Restless Soles: These walking tours are arranged by Tim Stuart and Gary Schlee and are open to all club members.
